I am a photographer whose visual practice began in high school and was shaped by service, travel, and a long rediscovery of the camera. In 1983 I enlisted in the United States Navy and was trained as a nuclear operator; I served aboard ships including USS Simon Lake and USS Enterprise through 1989. My time in the Navy took me around the world. During that period, I regret that I traveled without my photographic vision and mostly took snapshots. After discharge I focused on family life and a new hobby, amateur baseball. I returned to photography slowly until a 2017 solar eclipse rekindled my creative vision. Since retiring in 2022 I have dedicated myself fully to the craft through classes, competitions, and sustained practice.
